Additive Inverse
Definition

Two numbers are additive inverses if they add to give a sum of zero.

Examples

3 and -3 are additive inverses since 3 + (-3) = 0.

Additive inverse (fraction example)

x and -x are additive inverses since x + (-x) = 0.

(2x - 3) and -(2x - 3) are additive inverses since (2x - 3) + [-(2x - 3)] = 0. Since -(2x - 3) = -2x + 3, (2x - 3) and (-2x + 3) are additive inverses.
